Had an issue uploading the file so I had to screenshot it instead.
Notes to add
Overall I feel I lack consistency in my work when looking back at the tasks. In some tasks I feel I have not provided as much effort as others due to lack of interest in the subject matter. Particularly towards the end of 'The History of Rap' I ran out of ideas. However, I can see within my own work there is a clear learning direction. I do feel my drawing has improved, and will continue to improve if I challenge myself to draw excessively - this I feel I do not do enough of. I know that I need to keep drawing at a larger scale and using different media rather than restricting myself and this is something I am working on in other modules. I think where I engage the most interest is in work that has a good concept behind it which is why Visual Language has been a little bit of a challenge for me. Not having a good concept behind some of the tasks and basically just drawing for drawing sake is where my work lacks clarity and it has been a real journey for me. I have learnt to understand what makes a successful illustration, a good illustration with a structure, with intelligent use of colour, with dynamic and great composition. I feel the last couple of tasks best sum up what I have learnt so far and are quite strong compared to earlier tasks. However, it can be argued that in earlier tasks I took more risks, I was a lot more free and open with the media I was using and the marks I was creating; and so it's about finding the balance between the two. Though I may not be 100% happy with the final outcomes from the tasks, overall I am happy with the journey and what I have learnt so far. I find myself visually thinking and thumbnailing now to create compositions, considering colour and this is reflective throughout my other modules. There is also a vast change in how I approach my drawing. It is interesting to see the early blog post 'approaching a drawing' from reference of Biggie Smalls. It is completely focused on tone and shade with a realistic pencil approach. Whereas now, I only really focus on linework and later add blocks of colour digitally. My drawing style has completely changed. However, I do feel I am too reliant on using fine liner pens to create single lines and need to experiment with other media.
