Responsive SB1 - Threadless

I decided that my Breaking Bad designs would look good on T-shirts too so had a look at Threadless to submit them to there. I could put a character on each tshirt or have a tshirt with them all on, in different colours

I then thought I could include a quote from the character underneath

Ideas

Submissions

I was then hit with this :

And this :

This one is not so bad though as I literally just have to do a mock up of where I would like the image to be placed on the t-shirt and resubmit it

I don't quite understand the rules of copyright as I seen this design on the site that surely would be copyright also :

Piggy Smalls

I came up with a new design based on an idea I had in first year. Originally I had designed this for a tote bag and just drew it up in graphite. I have always wanted to re work this idea and I think this would be the perfect opportunity.

I then added this to an iphone case template and tshirt template and submitted my designs

I also ensured that I emailed Threadless regarding the earlier declines of my designs to get some feedback on this; I wanted to clarify exactly what they see as copyright. This will help me in the future for any products that I wish to sell.

They replied and said that sometimes it depends on the copyright holder as to who is more aggressive in chasing copyright infringements and so is best in general to stay away from. They then sent me a link to read up on copyright on their website :

Crit feedback

I only had early stage ideas for this so did not get much response other than 'nice concept' and 'cool t-shirts but could perhaps do with a different composition.'
